Is there anyway to make high waisted jeans shorter?

I bought 2 pairs of jeans from the mall and already torn off the tag but they’re too high on my waist. I swear they’re about to eat my belly button and i wouldnt have bought them if my boyfriend wasnt rushing me (last time i shop with him!) Is there any way to fix them since i cant return them? Any links would be great!! thanks!!!

Take them back to the store — they can usually put the tags back on there (I worked in retail for a while and you would be amazed what we were allowed to take on returns.) You can’t re-tailor jeans or any pants to make the waistband lower because your hips are wider than the original waistband and it would not be long enough to reposition. I’ve sewed and remodeled my clothes for almost 50 years and can tell you with absolute certainty even a skilled seamstress would not attempt this. It would require replacing the zipper and finding matching material to make a new waistband, plus the pockets and yoke would look all wrong. If you can’t return them just keep them. Higher waisted pants are becoming more of a trend anyway.

Chalk it up to experience anyway.

1, Always try on jeans before buying them
2. Never cut the tags until you are sure they fit.
3. Leave Lover Boy at home — most men are horrible to shop with.

well high waisted jeans are made to go up to your belly button (or atleast most of the fashion ones) i would probably take it to a taylor and get them fixed. it will probably cost like $20 or more (most liekyl more if they can do it) per pair.. so i would just buy new jeans becuase im guessing that you dont have a sewing machine? if you do i would look around on youtube for ways to make the wasit lower.. i havent ever made a waist lower on high waisted jeans yet… ill have to look into that sorry hope this helps
